I don't want to wake up from the dream
Living in a teenage fantasy
Take me where the highways never end
Cause rock and roll's for the rebels again
-The Outsider
Channeling the spirit of 50s rock 'n' roll, the energy of 70s punk, and the melodic sensibilities of the 80s new romantics, The Vigils have harnessed their vast artistic influences to create a timeless sound, unique in any decade. Sweetly reminiscent, guaranteed to strike a few heavy nostalgic chords, and yet at the same time, unabashedly original and unpredictable. Reaching into the past to bring you the rock music of the future…now.
In the night, our dreams are hanging from the skies
Taking flight, we can run away from this life, tonight
-Night Flight
Using an obsolete laptop computer (dubbed “Dr. Theopolis”) to fill in as the drummer they couldn’t find, The Vigils began playing shows throughout the dive bars and clubs of Los Angeles in the fall of 2012, and despite their rough edges, instantly earned a reputation for being one of the most unique, refreshing, and exciting live bands in the local underground rock scene. Not to be derailed by the obstacles and adversity that would test the band throughout its formative years, vocalist Daniel Cieplinski and bassist Soledad Luongo forged on through a succession of line-up changes before striking a musical kinship with guitarist Roberto Palazzo in 2016, drummer Jeff Robinson in 2020, and Kays Al-Atrakchi in 2025. “For me, this was when The Vigils finally went from being a conceptual sketch to a fully realized band firing on all cylinders,” Cieplinski reflects back. "It was a long and sometimes arduous road getting to this point. Fortunately for us, we've got nothing else better to do."
They self-released their long-awaited debut album “Forevermore” on March 6th of 2020, a week before the world would be thrown into a global pandemic that would place all immediate and future plans for the band on an indefinite hold. Almost a year to the day later, they reemerged with a vengeance, releasing the scorching single and music video for “A Midnight Wing”, marking yet another bold and unpredictable turn in The Vigils’ ever-expansive musical oeuvre. Together they pooled their resources and embarked on a regional tour of the Northeastern and Midwestern United States in the summer of 2022, and the Pacific Northwest in 2023, winning audiences over and earning new fans with every performance. Where The Vigils go from here is anybody’s guess, but if they have it their way, you can be certain it’s going to rock and rule.
